Nigerian popular Musician, Davido's Father and Billionaire Businessman, Dr Deji Adeleke has ordered the release of about 200 inmates serving indefinite years of jail terms in Ilesha Maximum Prison, Ilesha, Osun State, Nigeria. The inmates were said to be serving jail terms on incapability to pay their fine option.

Deji Adeleke had stormed the Ilesha Maximum prison to check up with the arrested All Progressive Congress state leader, Alhaji Fatai Diekola who was detained by the state police command for a public peace disturbance allegation. Dr Deji Adeleke was accompanied to the prison by the former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Alhaji Rafiu Adejare Bello and a lawyer Chief Amos on Tuesday.

While accessing the state of the prison Dr Deji found the condition poor and ordered for 700 mattresses and pillows be supplied to the authority of the prison to improve the state of the prison and make the inmates feel more convenience. He however tasked the freed inmates to be of good characters as they would be rejoinning their family members and relatives and behave well in the society to make living more better.

Alhaji Fatai Diekola was on Monday detained while appearing at the State Police Command in response to a police summon served on him. He was accompanied to the police command by thousands of his supporters in a solidarity trek conducted in a peaceful manner. However, the State Police Command considered the action a public peace disturbing act.

Osogbo Progressive Union Protests

However, indigenes of the Osogbo State capital of the Osun under the aegis of Osogbo Progressive Union, OPU struck Ilesha Maximum Prison on Wednessday protesting the illegal detention of the Osogbo born politician and two terms former chairman of Osogbo Local Government, Alhaji Fatai Diekola, who was detained alongside six other persons. The protest was lead by the Worldwide Chairman of the union, Ambassador Raji Siyanbola.

Continue detention of Alhaji Fatai Diekola might cause a major damage on the acceptability of All Progressive Congress lead government under Governor Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola who enjoyed his winning votes from Osun Central Senatorial District. Majorly electorate votes from Osogbo and Olorunda Local Government Areas situated in Osogbo consumed the voting power of Osun East Senatorial District where Senator Iyiola Omisoore hails. Senator Omisoore was the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the 2014 Governorship election. Blocks of votes from Osogbo, Olorunda. ede South and Ede North Local Government Areas won the 2014 Governorship election for Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

Governor Aregbesola is already having problem with electorates from Ede North and Ede South Local Government Areas which ended the candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) losing the last Osun West Senatorial election on a wide margin to the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Otunca (Dr) Ademola Adeleke.
